Blue Light Press y El Barrio Art Space PS 109 en East Harlem se complacen en anunciar una lectura y celebración de la antología 2022, aclamada por la crítica, NYC FROM THE INSIDE: NYC a través de los ojos de los poetas que viven aquí, el sábado 30 de abril de 2022, desde 2-5 pm. Los coanfitriones de la celebración de la tarde son George Wallace, editor de la antología, y Jesús Papoleto Meléndez, poeta, dramaturgo, maestro y activista puertorriqueño nacido en Nueva York.

NYC FROM THE INSIDE es una antología histórica de 179 poetas y 360 páginas que declara en términos inequívocos que la Gran Manzana puede haber recibido una paliza durante la pandemia, pero está volviendo más fuerte que nunca. Llena de nombres destacados y prometedores, la antología rastrea elementos del pasado de la ciudad de Nueva York, narra su presente y predice su futuro, y que denominamos como “Un mensaje del Estado de la Unión de los Poetas de la Ciudad” que proclaman la conocida resiliencia de la ciudad; su dureza y atractivo duradero.
Programados para aparecer y leer de la antología el 30 de abril están Max Blagg, Meagan Brothers, Ngoma Hill, Nancy Mercado, Valery Oisteanu, Yuko Otomo, Christine Timm, Edwin Torres, Angelo Verga y Jeff Wright.

EL BARRIO ART SPACE 109 TO HOST LANDMARK NYC POETRY ANTHLOGY REDING
Blue Light Press and El Barrio Art Space PS 109 in East Harlem are delighted to announce a reading and celebration of the critically acclaimed 2022 anthology NYC FROM THE INSIDE: NYC through the eyes of the poets who live here, on Saturday April 30, 2022 from 2-5 pm.
The event, which will be held at 215 e 99th St, NYC, will include music, refreshments, and a cross-sectional reading from the book, The event it’s is free and open to the public. Co-hosts for the afternoon celebration are George Wallace, editor of the anthology, and Jesus Papoleto Melendez, New York-born Puerto Rican poet, playwright, teacher and activist.
“This will be one of our very first live, public celebrations of FROM THE INSIDE, and we’re delighted that we have been invited to bring a cross-sectional representation of our anthology poets to El Barrio, which we know as home to a lively arts community,” said Wallace. “Papoleto has been a leader in poetry and the arts for many years, and it is fitting that as we celebrate the re-emergence of live poetry in New York City from the dark days of the pandemic, that he is helping us to do that.”
“As a resident poet at El Barrio’s Artspace PS109, it is an honor and pleasure for us to welcome poet George Wallace and the diverse poets representing the anthology, “NYC FROM THE INSIDE: NYC through the eyes of the poets who live here” to share their insights on living in New York City with our community,” said Melendez. “We are looking forward to appreciating the unity of poetic voices being expressed, and to inviting the New York City public at large to this event.”
NYC FROM THE INSIDE is a landmark 179-poet, 360-page anthology that declares in no uncertain terms that the Big Apple may have taken a pounding during the pandemic, but it’s coming back stronger than ever. Full of marquee names and up-and-comers, the anthology traces elements of New York City’s past, chronicles its present and predicts its future, and is being called a State of the Union message from the city’s poets proclaiming the city’s well-known resilience, toughness and enduring appeal.
